The sky ordained your neighborhood with discreet tapping of rain. Thick, groggy clouds were heavy and low, droplets of rain bouncing off roofs and leaves. It bore endlessly, but somehow you never wanted it to cease. You embraced the melancholy moments that gloomy days held, casting a spell of fatigue and silence within your household. Some describe rainy days as a lazy day, but you took it as a blessing.

Darkness poured in your home. Your father, sprawled on his claimed recliner and snoozing, snored like a heavy ox. Your mother lazily switches the channels from cheesy, 90's chick flick movies to re-runs of game shows. There was nothing you wished to do besides smile, sliding your feet over the wooden panels of your floor. It was dry, cold, and sent a jolt of shivers up your spine.

The kitchen was filthy. Dishes that held leftovers were piled, the counter was stained, pots and pans remained on the stove. Your mother must have not bothered cleaning, but you didn't blame her. You couldn't blame everyone for lolling their bodies over dented couches, barely lifting a finger or saying a single word to each other.

Was this bound to happen? Yes. Does it happen routinely? No. It wasn't like you were some god to magically make it pour with the snap of your fingers, despite how much you wished that was possible.

You left the kitchen to climb the flight of stairs, the sound of pattering increasing. Opening the door to your room, you walked to the screen door and pulled the curtains aside, drops of rain sticking to the glass and bouncing off the balcony rails. Despite the overcast, it strangely made your room a little more brighter.

You settled yourself on your bed, wrapping your body with wool blankets and sighing.

Yes, rainy days may be calming and quiet, but they were also tedious.

Knock knock.

"Hey! (Y/N)!"

Choking on your gasp, you sat up. "Jesus Christ!" you exclaimed, tossing your sheets over to the side and rushing to your screen door. Sliding it open, you raised your eyebrows. "Eren!"

He grinned. "C'mon, (Y/N), don't leave me standing here. Aren't you gonna let me in?"

"No," you rolled your eyes. "I plan to leave you out here in the freezing rain to catch a cold."

He stuck his lower lip out. "So cruel!"

Giving in, you let him inside. He shivered and chuckled. "Jeez, you're freezing!" you sighed, grabbing your blanket and wrapping it around the boy and over his head. He only laughed.

"I'm fine, (Y/N)."

You furrowed your eyebrows, examining his face further. Red, wet, and laced with exhaustion. "Did you run here, Eren?"

"Well, yeah," he wrapped the blanket around himself tighter. "You expected me to walk?"

"I expected you not to be stupid and run miles from your home."

"Doesn't matter now," he sighed, opening the blanket to invite you under. You took a step back at first, but her engulfed you under the cloth. "I'm here now."

You laughed. "Eren, you smell like a wet dog."

"And sweat?"

"Yeah, that too."

You writhed and he opened his arms to let you out from the blankets. "Anyways," you coughed. "why are you here?"

He flushed, and you couldn't tell if it was his actual blush or the rush of running. "I..." he looked away, scratching the back of his head. "I wanted to see you."

You beamed, curling your fingers around his before tugging his arm. "Come."

"Wh-What?" he raised his eyes. "N-No! No, (Y/N), don't you think it's a little too early t-to do... that?"

You growled and flicked his forehead. "Not that, dumbass. I meant come cuddle."

"Oh..." he, oh-so bashfully, chuckled. "You could have said that."

"Maybe you shouldn't jump into conclusions."

"Aren't you sassy today?"

"Hey," you paused. "Do you smell that?"

He sniffed, tilting his head to the side and knitting his eyebrows. "What? I don't smell anything."

"It smells like your dumbassery."

"Oh ha-ha."

You giggled, lying on your bed with Eren climbing behind you. Albeit awkwardly, he slugged his arm around your upper waist and kept on twitching his nose from your hair tickling his nostrils. His clothes, still damp, were cold against your back and his scent was comforting, despite his sweat.

Perhaps rainy days would become a lot more eventful.
